Remodel or Build

A Different Kind of Home Decision

Before you remodel, build, or move—let's make sure you're solving the right problem.

Sometimes your home needs a renovation.

Sometimes it needs a completely different floor plan.

And sometimes the smartest decision is to sell and start somewhere new.

Those decisions can involve hundreds of thousands of dollars, and it's easy to fall in love with a vision before understanding what it will actually take to get there.

My experience in building, remodeling, real estate investing, and design helps me look at the decision from a broader perspective. That perspective is backed by direct access to Wade Construction, our family’s Los Gatos design-build company, for a builder’s-eye view of what’s actually possible.

We can look at:

  • What your existing home could realistically become

  • Whether the current layout is worth changing

  • What improvements are likely to add meaningful value

  • Where construction complexity can quickly increase a budget

  • Whether your lot and existing home support the vision you have

  • How a renovation compares with buying something that already has what you want

  • What makes sense for your lifestyle now—and for the future

Sometimes the answer isn't obvious.

You may love your neighborhood but not your floor plan.

You may have a great lot but a house that no longer works.

You may be considering a major renovation and wondering whether you're better off starting over.

That's where an experienced second perspective can be valuable.

I'll help you step back from the project and look at the bigger decision: What is the smartest way to create the home you actually want?

What Working With Me Looks Like

01 — Define the vision.

What isn't working? What do you wish your home could do? What would make staying feel right?

02 — Evaluate the possibilities.

We'll look at the property, the layout, the potential, and the practical considerations that could affect your options.

03 — Think through the investment.

A beautiful renovation isn't necessarily a smart renovation. We'll consider what you're putting into the home and what you're getting in return.

04 — Decide: improve, rebuild, or move.

Sometimes the right answer is to remodel. Sometimes it's to build. And sometimes the smartest move is a different home altogether.

My job is not to push you toward a particular answer.

It's to help you make the right one.

Your home should support the life you want to live.

Let's figure out what it could become.
